About Eday

EDAY
At the heart of Orkney's North Isles...

Places of interest

Vinquoy Hill
A short walk from the main road at the north end of the island takes you to the top where there is a very well preserved cairn which includes four minor compartments leading from the central chamber. There are also panoramic views across all of the north isles from here.

Carrick House
The laird's house dating from the seventeenth century. The drawing room floor still has a dark stain said to be the blood spilled by the notorious pirate John Gow in a failed escape attempt.

Stone of Setter
Orkney's tallest single standing stone, erected about 4000BC.
